FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
+ What types of surfaces can you work on?
GLASS (Fragrance bottle, Wine bottle/glass, mug, candle jar, mirror),
METAL (water bottles, fragrance bottles, beauty products, jewelry, cutlery),
PLASTIC
WOOD (Charcuterie board, kitchenware),
LEATHER (luggage tags, catch all tray, notebook cover, wallet, keychain),
STONE (Ceramic, marble, Gua Sha stone),
PAPER (paper goods, cards, stationery, journal/notebook covers).
+ Are the materials provided, or should I (the client) supply them?
I (the vendor) typically do not supply the items and work best when provided with the materials on which you would like the calligraphy to be done. This allows you to choose items that align with your event theme or branding. If you have specific materials in mind, feel free to share those details with me, and we can discuss the best way to proceed. Additionally, I'm happy to provide guidance on suitable materials if needed.
+ Is there a minimum or maximum number of items you can handle for an event?
I don't have a strict minimum or maximum limit, but I can engrave approximately 50 items per hour. The actual quantity may vary based on the complexity of the engraving and the specific details involved. If you have a specific number of items in mind or a target range, we can discuss your expectations, and I'll do my best to accommodate your needs within the given timeframe. For high volume events, I recommend adding on an additional artist(s).
+ What is the Investment for your services?
I offer three premium offerings to cater to different event sizes and durations:
Mini - $800: Ideal for 2-3 hour events. Geared towards smaller gatherings.
Half Day - $1000: Customized for 4-5 hour events.
Full Day - $1200: Tailored for larger, grand events lasting 6+ hours or conferences with over 200-300 attendees.
The pricing includes customized experience by a professional calligraphy & engraving artist, materials, setup, breakdown, and travel within the Greater Austin Area. Additional costs may apply for special requests, additional engraving artist needed, unique customization needs beyond the standard package offerings, and travel outside of the Greater Austin Area. Feel free to share any specific details about your event, and we can discuss a customized quote based on your requirements.
+ How do I know if I need more than one engraving artist? How does that work?
If your event has over 200 guests, it is recommended to have more than one engraving artist. This approach helps improve the flow of traffic, reduce lines and waiting times, and ensures that each guest receives a customized item, contributing to a positive experience for everyone.
The booking process will be facilitated through me, and I will coordinate with my network of local talented professional calligraphy artists to bring the desired number of additional artists to ensure a seamless and enjoyable experience for your guests.
+ Is a deposit required, and what are the payment terms?
Payment is required to secure your date, and payment terms are as follows: Pay in full (preferred) or pay 50% of the total. Remaining 50% is due before your event date.
PLEASE NOTE: Dates are not held unless an invoice is paid (minimum 50%) and/or a contract is signed. Your date is NOT confirmed until a contract is signed.
You can conveniently make payments online using debit, credit, or ACH transfer. If you require an alternative method of payment, email me (hello@amandareiddesigns.com) and I'll be happy to send you a customized invoice separately to accommodate your preferred payment method.
+ Can you provide a sample or mock-up before the event?
Yes, I am able to provide a sample or mock-up before the event, but it is not a mandatory requirement. If clients are interested in a sample, I recommend providing a sample of the items to be customized at the event. This ensures that the chosen items work well with my tools and allows for a preview of the proposed calligraphy style. You can ship the product sample to me; please email hello@amandareiddesigns.com for the shipping address or if you have any specific preferences for the sample.
If providing a sample is not feasible, you can review my portfolio on my website below and social media platforms for past examples of my work. Additionally, rest assured that I come prepared with backup tools on the day of the event to handle various surfaces and ensure a seamless experience.
+ What power and lighting requirements do you have for your setup?
For my setup, I require the following:
A table and chair for the calligraphy station.
Near an electrical outlet or extension cord to power my equipment & lighting.
Adequate lighting is preferred to ensure optimal working conditions.
These basic requirements help ensure a smooth and efficient live calligraphy experience at your event. If you have specific preferences or constraints regarding the setup, please let me know in advance, and I'll do my best to accommodate them.
+ What color options do you offer?
For engraving, glass items can be filled with silver or gold. Heat foiling options include gold or silver, and for paper items, the standard color is black. I'm also able to accommodate other ink options if necessary.
It's worth noting that for high-volume events, I highly recommend sticking to one color. This not only helps streamline the process and minimize waiting times for guests but also contributes to a smoother flow and overall positive experience. If you have a specific color preference or if you'd like to discuss options further, feel free to let me know, and we can tailor the color choices to suit your event.
+ Do you travel?
Yes, I do travel for events. An additional fee for any events outside of the Greater Austin, TX area will apply to cover mileage, travel expenses, and, if necessary, flight and hotel accommodations for out-of-state or overnight stays. The specific details of the travel fee can be discussed and outlined in our agreement to ensure transparency and clarity regarding any associated costs. Please email me to discuss travel for events outside of Austin, TX.
